Control the day before the night controls you
Witchcraft is the daytime class path for hexes, spirit utility, defensive magic, discovery tools, and controlled damage. It is strongest when the player wants information, preparation, and combat support before a major route decision.
On a first run, Witchcraft should solve practical problems: finding haunted sites, weakening enemies before sword range, protecting Coen when healing is scarce, and opening quest information that a pure combat route might miss.
The best Witchcraft turn spends health only when the result is clearer than the risk. A hex should open the fight, not drain Coen into a worse one.
What the class brings
Tool | Job in the build | Best moment to use it --- | --- | --- Compel Soul | Speak with restless souls | A location hints at hidden story or quest information Burning Blood | Damage over time | A sturdy enemy can be pressured safely Life Lock | Block and reflect damage | A heavy hit is predictable Soul Reaping | Drain life and repel | Coen needs space and recovery Ravenous Flock | Cone attack and stun | Several enemies are lined up in front of Coen
First-day pattern
- Use Witchcraft to reveal information before committing to a major action.
- Track health costs carefully, especially before unknown fights.
- Pair a hex with a sword follow-up instead of casting until Coen is weak.
- Save rare manuals until the route proves which utility effect you use often.
The most common early mistake is treating Witchcraft as free control. Its best effects can be worth the cost, but a first route should respect health, time slots, manuals, and shrine access.
Pairings worth testing
Witchcraft + Swordmastery
This is the cleanest daytime route. Witchcraft opens or controls the encounter, then Swordmastery provides the stable finish.
Witchcraft + Vampirism
This pairing creates a strong supernatural identity across the full day-night loop. It needs careful resource testing because both sides can carry costs.
Witchcraft + Exploration Build
Use this route when the goal is scouting, finding manuals, restoring shrines, and collecting information before hard commitments.
When to choose another role
Choose Swordmastery first if survival and timing are the main blockers. Choose Vampirism first if night combat and feeding routes are the core problem.
