Fast travel and time costs

Fast travel uses the Shrine network. Activate a Shrine first, then interact with any active Shrine and choose another discovered Shrine from the map. You cannot teleport directly from the open world.

Does fast travel consume time?

Shrine-to-Shrine fast travel does not consume an in-game time segment. The 30-day clock advances when you complete marked quests, select time-costing dialogue, learn or upgrade skills, or choose Wait at a Shrine—not while the loading transition itself runs.

Action | Time cost | Notes --- | --- | --- Shrine fast travel | 0 segments | Requires both Shrines to be activated Walking, climbing, combat, scouting | 0 segments | Explore before confirming an hourglass action Wait at Shrine | Yes | Use only when you intentionally need day/night Learn or upgrade a skill | Usually 1 segment | Check the hourglass on the confirmation prompt Quest/dialogue choice | Varies | The journal or prompt shows the cost

Unlocking and restoring Shrines

Discover a Shrine by exploring and interact with it to activate the point. A destroyed Shrine may require restoring its heart or clearing the nearby objective; that restoration can consume a segment. Activate regional Shrines early so Court Activities and romance quests can be chained without walking across the valley.

Fast travel can be disabled while overencumbered or during an active combat/quest state. Leave the danger zone, reduce inventory weight, and try again. Day/night icons on the map still matter after teleporting: a destination may be safe to reach but its vendor or quest can require a specific phase.

Best practice for the 30-day campaign

Use free exploration to reveal several objectives, then teleport to the nearest Shrine before accepting the next time-costing action. Spend segments at a Shrine only when changing phase or upgrading a skill is worth the opportunity cost. Keep a save before a long chain of Court Activities so a failed timed quest does not force a full route replay.
