PS5 vs PC version comparison
Both versions contain the same single-player campaign, 30-day story system, quests, romances, bosses, and endings. The practical difference is control over performance versus a fixed console experience.
At a glance
Feature | PS5 | PC --- | --- | --- Platform | Native PS5 release; offline single-player | Windows 10, DirectX 12, SSD required Performance | Performance targets 60 FPS; Balanced/Quality trade frame rate for image quality | Frame rate depends on CPU/GPU, preset, upscaler, shader compilation, and driver Graphics control | Preset modes only | Resolution, textures, shadows, volumetrics, upscaler, and frame-generation options Input | DualSense; PS5 button remapping is limited at launch | Keyboard/mouse and controllers; Hotfix 1.0.2 adjusts PC controller dead zones Updates | Console patch rollout | Steam updates, driver and BIOS maintenance
Which version should you choose?
Choose PS5 if you want a predictable plug-and-play setup, couch play, and DualSense feedback. Use Performance mode while learning directional blocks; Balanced or Quality is better for slower exploration if your display supports the mode.
Choose PC if you have hardware at or above the official recommended tier (i7-11700K/Ryzen 7 5700X, RTX 4060/RX 7600 XT/Arc B580, 16 GB RAM) and want to tune image quality, ultrawide displays, frame caps, or high-refresh output. Meeting recommended specs is not a guarantee of 60 FPS; shader compilation and CPU-heavy settlements can still cause stutter.
Important trade-offs
- PS5 avoids shader-cache setup and most driver conflicts, but you cannot fine-tune individual settings.
- PC offers higher ceilings and more display choices, but launch-build stutter, BIOS-related shader crashes, and overlay conflicts require troubleshooting.
- PS5’s Performance mode targets 60 FPS through the launch patch; the actual frame rate can vary by scene and patch.
- PC cutscenes or specific scenes may have separate frame pacing from gameplay; evaluate a route in combat and in Svartrau rather than only indoors.
Save and content parity
The story content is the same across PS5 and PC. Achievements/trophies differ by platform: Steam/Xbox list 46 achievements, while PS5 adds a platinum trophy. Keep manual saves before timed quests and final choices regardless of platform.
