How to unlock Shapeshift
Shapeshift is a Vampirism perk purchased from the Perks panel at any activated Shrine. It turns Coen into a wolf for fast night traversal; it is not a Swordmastery or Witchcraft manual.
Fast unlock route
- Finish the prologue and reach the open world.
- At night, feed on wildlife or hostile enemies with Voracious Bite until the Vampirism tree reaches the Shapeshift requirement. Early-game testing places it at the first Corruption level; read the live perk card for the exact requirement on your patch.
- Travel to an activated Shrine, open Perks, select Shapeshift, and spend the required skill point/XP.
- Equip it in the Vampirism ability panel. At night, press L3 while running to transform into the wolf.
What Shapeshift does
- Works only at night; it does not replace daytime movement skills.
- Runs faster than normal movement and takes less fall damage.
- It is ideal for reaching Court Activities, shrines, and romance objectives without spending time on unnecessary combat.
- Pair it with Shadowstep and Planeshift for climbing and short-distance traversal. During the day, Mercurial Fervour provides the comparable Witchcraft speed boost.
If the perk is unavailable
Confirm that the Shrine is activated, Coen is in the night phase, and the Vampirism requirement has been met. Feeding animals raises Corruption safely; named NPC blood is not required for Shapeshift and can damage relationship or quest routes. If the card still shows a lock, check whether a prerequisite perk or manual is listed and save before spending the next point.
