Start and prerequisites
Reach maximum Xanthe anger through her Court Activities. The quest starts at Howling Keep after soldiers give Coen Xanthe's Lantern. It costs 4 time segments and has no listed fail state.
Steps
- Travel to Howling Keep in the southern map region.
- Place the lantern at the entrance statue to remove the red vines.
- Collect and reposition lanterns through the mansion, courtyard, underground room, kennels, and balconies.
- Collect The Relic of St. Dasius in the lantern-opened room before leaving.
- Find Xanthe and defeat her three-phase health pattern, destroying blood orbs when she teleports.
Final choice and results
- Kill Xanthe: supernatural enemies remain in Greifberg Castle; her named blood is available by draining.
- Let Xanthe live and cooperate: supernatural castle enemies are removed; you lose the immediate drain choice but can obtain her blood elsewhere.
Both choices satisfy The Dark Mistress. The quest grants 500 XP; draining grants Blood Surge.
