Vampire abilities guide
Vampirism does not use the manual hunt. Abilities unlock through feeding and the corruption state that feeding creates. Blood is power and a route resource: every ability decision trades immediate strength against health, humanity, and future dialogue options.
How to unlock abilities
Feed from safe animals and isolated enemies to build a reserve before a major duel. Named vampire blood can unlock unique abilities: draining Ambrus grants Scarlet Shield, draining Bakir grants Shadowstorm, and Xanthe’s blood can unlock Blood Surge through the boss reward or a later consumable. The ability is available after the drain/consumption choice, not merely after winning the fight.
Managing corruption
Watch the corruption meter before crossing a threshold. Higher corruption improves access to night powers but can close human interactions and alter quest outcomes. Keep a manual save before drinking a named boss’s blood; killing instead preserves alternate ending and equipment options. Daytime remains the safer window for Swordmastery and Witchcraft, while night is the natural window for Vampirism.
Practical loadout
Use one movement or escape ability, one burst ability, and one sustain option. Carry ordinary blood consumables so a boss reward is a strategic choice rather than an emergency heal. The official Skills & Power bulletin describes Vampirism as progression tied to feeding and corruption rather than manuals.
